OPEN CALL: Professor of Fine Art specialising in Sculpture
The Institute of Fine Art at Braunschweig University of Art (HBK Braunschweig) is currently seeking to fill the position of University Professor in Fine Art, specialising in sculpture (W3). The successful candidate is expected to take up their appointment by October 1, 2025. This is a permanent appointment. If applicable, the successful applicant will be appointed as a civil servant in accordance with German civil service regulations or otherwise as an employee.
HBK Braunschweig is an internationally orientated university specialising in the arts. HBK Braunschweig is entitled to confer doctoral and “Habilitation” (professorial) degrees. With around 1,000 students enrolled in faculties including Fine Art, Art Pedagogy, Performing Arts, Design, Visual Communication, Art History and Aesthetics and Media Studies, HBK Braunschweig is one of the biggest art universities in Germany.
We are looking for an internationally renowned artist whose work is recognized as making a significant and innovative contribution to contemporary sculpture. The successful candidate will represent the different aspects and possibilities of a current and expanded concept of sculpture in their own artistic practice and teaching. They will be expected to contribute to the teaching of sculpture at HBK Braunschweig, complementing three further sculpture-oriented professorships in the Fine Arts to ensure that current and future students are able to engage with a broad range of different artistic approaches through which they can reflect on and understand their own artistic position in the field.
