MIRAGES LXXVI

At one hand is the Art Basel in which participate older and most recognized galleries, but the most important art-event in our opinion is LISTE Art Fair Basel, because its focus is to introduce new galleries that represent young, emerging artists to an established art scene.  The intentionally low number of galleries and the strict selection policy of the jury contribute to a feeling of vitality and dynamism at the Fair.

For our magazine is a great honor to be Online Media Partners on a Regular basis with LISTE Art Fair.

At the 29th Edition of Liste Art Fair Basel participate 91 galleries from 35 countries. There will be 75 solo and 16 group presentations exhibited alongside 5 joint booths resulting in more than 100 differing cultural voices being amplified to an international audience during the fair. Liste is unique in that it is the only art fair where two thirds of the galleries are showing a single artist exhibition resulting in the curating of, over 70 solo exhibitions cementing its position as a pioneering champion of contemporary artists and the art scene.

Peter Bläuer, Co-Founder, Liste Art Fair, Basel, has managed Liste for 23 years and led it to its great success. This year he has stepped in as artistic director on an interim basis and commented: “Almost every young gallery still applies to Liste and wants to be part of this important platform in Basel. This year, we are once again able to present the most promising new galleries and their artists to an international audience of experts. It makes me very happy to once again work with Stiftung Liste Basel on this important task of helping to promote a future generation of galleries. What could be better than supporting and helping? So, dear experts! take a good look! There is a lot to discover again this year.”

This year, Friends of Liste is financially supporting 10 galleries with particularly extensive presentations: Bombon (Barcelona) with Ludovica Carbotta, Crisis (Lima) with Naomi Gamarra, Cylinder (Seoul) with Jongwan Jang and Rim Park diez (Amsterdam) with Ian Waelder, General Expenses (Mexico City) with Roger Muñoz, Kai Matsumiya (New York) with Andrew Ross, Kogo (Tartu) with Elīna Vītola, Parallel Oaxaca (Oaxaca) with Patricia Belli, Rose Easton (London) with Louis Morlae, and suns.works (Zurich) with Romane Chabrol, Lucas Erin and Len Schweder.

Helvetia Art Prize:  Since 2004, the Helvetia Insurance Group has awarded an art prize to a student of a Swiss art university. In addition to a cash prize, they provide the awardee with an opportunity to exhibit at Liste.

Special guests: The special guests this year include HEK (House of Electronic Arts), who will have their own booth, and curator Elise Lammer, who is curating a performance program featuring international artists (further details to follow).

On the digital platform Liste Showtime Online visitors can discover over 80 emerging artists and find inspiration in the diversity and quality of the participating galleries from more than 35 countries. Each exhibitor will present one artist in-depth, thereby not only offering works for sale but also providing deeper insights into the featured artist’s individual practice.

Liste Expedition Online is a year-round research forum and continuously growing index of artists who have exhibited at Liste Art Fair Basel and on Liste Showtime.  Liste Expedition Online was launched in December 2021 as a non-commercial, digital research forum that brings together the world’s newest and most important artistic positions. The forum’s artist index grows continuously year after year and is publicly accessible throughout the year, together with curated programmes.
