OPEN CALL: 2024 Rome Prize at Villa Massimo

The “Rome Prize” of the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo is the most important award granted to distinguished artists who reside in Germany or of German nationality. The German Academy Rome Villa Massimo falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government’s Commissioner for Cultural Affairs and Media of the Federal Republic of Germany. The award offers a ten-month residency at Villa Massimo in Rome (Italy) to nine (inter)nationally acclaimed artists, including architects, composers, writers and visual artists. The Academy’s second home is Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano, where one can apply for three-month fellowships. Fellows receive free housing plus a studio and a monthly fee of 2,500 EUR. Accompanying partners and families with children are welcome.

Villa Massimo was founded in 1910 by philanthropist Eduard Arnhold. He purchased the land, commissioned the main building and ten modern studios with adjacent private residential spaces and then donated the complex to the Prussian state.

Call: Renowned initiators for architecture, visual arts, composition and literature are invited to apply by January 15, 2024 for the “Rome Prize” of the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo 2025/26 and for the fellowship at Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano 2025/26.
