OPEN CALL: Seeking Lecturer in Fine Art With Focus On Curatorial Practice at Konstfack University

Konstfack is now looking for a Senior Lecturer in Curatorial Practice. The position is located at the Department of Fine Art—one of four departments at Konstfack and one of the larger subject areas.

The main task of the position is to run the independent course CuratorLab which is a one-year international curatorial research course. Participants in the course develop the ability to perform as a professional curator in international contexts. CuratorLab does not have a fixed curriculum and every year it reinvents itself anew around a leading topic, followed by studio visits, seminars, lectures and trips, co-organised together with the participants. When it was founded in 1998, the course was the first vocational training for curators in Sweden, a number of years before the formation of curatorial training at Stockholm University in 2003. The course has had a central importance for the establishment of the professional role of curators in Sweden and has thus also had a significant general influence on the artistic field. During the 25 years it has been active, the course has continuously developed and changed.

Main work duties
–Responsibility for the independent course CuratorLab, which means planning the course’s activities and content within the framework of the course syllabus, responsibility for the allocated budget, supervision, and examination of the course’s students as well as course administration.
–Continuous development of pedagogy and course content.
–Participate in the department’s joint work.

The position
A prerequisite for employment is that the person employed resides in Sweden. The position comprises 50 percent of full-time employment for a maximum of five years, with the possibility of renewal for a further maximum of five years. The employment is combined with the senior lecturer’s own development work. Working hours are to be carried out at Konstfack with several sessions each working week. The proposed first day of employment is on August 1, 2024. For admission to the course that starts in the autumn semester 2024 as well as handing over and planning, we would wish that some work is done also during the spring of 2024.

Application deadline: October 2, 2023. For more information and to see the announcement visit here.
