MIRAGES LXXI
One of the most beautiful experiences, especially in the Mediterranean and the Greek islands, are the Summer exhibitions that flourished in the past with many interesting artists. During the economic crisis in Greece and globally during the coronavirus epidemic there was a downturn, Now the need to extend the artistic period arose internationally and destinations like Graz, Ibiza or Riviera delle Palme took the lead with major galleries such as Gagosian, Thaddeus Ropac, and Sprueth Mayers are making a strong entrance into the scene, in a space mainly dominated by large hotels, which, like those in Mykonos, did not have much luck or continuity. On the contrary, the Greek islands boast art galleries, municipal spaces, museums, castles and various types of wonderful architectural buildings, which are well preserved. In the Argosaronic Gulf at the Hydra island, a multitude of exhibitions takes place, including the group exhibition “Dream Mach hostsines” by the DESTE Foundation, the Project School presents thegroup exhibition “Lessons Learned” curated by Dimitris Antonitsis at the old Municipal Market; the exhibition “Exit” at the Annex of Athens School of Fine Arts- Tompazi mansion, with the participation of 12 young artists from the Sculpture Workshop A with their professor Nikos Tranos; and lastly the Lazaros Koundouriotis Historical Mansion, where 20 artists explore the Trauma through modern Greek history in an exhibition ehtitled “On the Other Side of History”. The last two exhibitions are curated by the signatory.
