OPEN CALL: Final Call for Applications! ‘Artists in Residencia’ at La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca

In collaboration with Galleria Continua, La Residencia launches an open call and invites artists to apply for one of three residency programmes at Deia ́s intimate mountainside enclave, long-associated with artists of all disciplines.

This season, La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, nestled in the green folds of Mallorca´s UNESCO protected Sierra de Tramuntana, is thrilled to offer a magnificent opportunity for artists from all over the globe. In collaboration with renowned contemporary art gallery Galleria Continua, La Residencia launches an open call and invites artists to apply for one of three residency programmes at Deia´s intimate mountainside enclave, long-associated with artists of all disciplines.

ARTIST ENCLAVE OF DEIA’

La Residencia has long been associated with Mallorca’s creative scene. Through the decades, artists, musicians and writers have come to the picturesque village of Deià to be inspired by the Tramuntana Mountains, the sublime sea views and the luminous Mediterranean light. Guests of this Mallorcan sanctuary are immersed in local art and a bohemian spirit, both in the hotel’s acclaimed galleries and workshops, and in the artists’ studios dotted around the village. Guests can join Walk and Talk tours with curator Cecilie Sheridan, savour local specialities surrounded by original Joan Miró artworks in Café Miró and admire vibrant and engaging local works in every corner of the hotel. La Residencia is defined by an appreciation for art and fine craft, nature and intimate epicurean cuisine.

ARTISTIC COMMITMENT

The residency programme ties in with Belmond’s longstanding commitment to the arts, which embraces unique collaborations and initiatives. Last year, Belmond partnered with Galleria Continua for MITICO, a showcase of works by four prominent artists around its Italian properties which embodied values such as acceptance and community, culminating ultimately in a celebration of the art of living. These same philosophies accompany Galleria Continua in all its artistic endeavours and collaborations, permeating through to this artistic residence in Mallorca. This island has long been a source of creativity for artists across disciplines who have been inspired by the island’s dramatic landscape spanning from mountains to the sea like painter Joan Miró, its ancient monasteries like composer Frédéric Chopin or its idyllic tranquillity like poet Robert Graves. Belmond and Galleria Continua are excited to embark upon another adventure in art with the new and diverse artists who will apply, aspiring to conduct a fruitful residence that takes the magic and inspiration of this island and transfers it to all those who pass through.

This year´s two-month residencies at La Residencia will take place from

1st residency – May – June 2023
2nd residency – July-August 2023
3rd residency – September- October 2023
