OPEN CALL: Entries For Grand Prix Images Vevey and Book Award 2023/24
Images Vevey’s international photography competition returns: over CHF 50,000 in creation-support grants. Professional artists and photographers, as well as those in training, have until February 17 to enter the competition for the 14th Grand Prix Images Vevey and/or the 5th Images Vevey Book Award 2023/24.
Grand Prix Images Vevey
The Grand Prix Images Vevey is a creation-support grant for photography projects. The award, worth some 40 000 CHF, enables one artist to develop a new photography project over a year and to present it at the next Images Vevey biennial in 2024. The competition represents unique support for contemporary creation, with complete freedom of choice over subject and genre.
In 2021/22, the Grand Prix Images Vevey was awarded to Lebohang Kganye (South Africa) for Staging memories, she places cut-out characters amid improvised settings, somewhat like how pop-up books unfold and close again.
Images Vevey Book Award
The Images Vevey Book Award is a grant worth 10 000 CHF that supports the creation of a book project which showcases an optimal and original balance between publication format and photographic content. It provides a financial contribution that aims to encourage artists to take risks and to innovate, in order for them to develop a suitable sophisticated publication format for their photography project.
In 2021/22, Carmen Winant (United-States) was the winner of the Images Vevey Book Award for the publication “Arrangements” (Éditions Images Vevey and SPBH). Shortlisted for the “PhotoBook of the Year 2022” by Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation New York, the artist rearranged entire pages taken from magazines or artists’ books.
