REVIEW: Fabrice Hyber-The Valley
The solo exhibition of the French artist Fabrice Hyber entitled “The Valley”, at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, focuses on nature and everything it means nowadays, with its destruction by man and climate change, with all the concerns and messages that preoccupy the artist, but also everyone of us who are really worried about the future of the planet. Although the messages conveyed in “The Valley”, are essential and the artworks impressive, its strong point is the amazing setting up of the exhibition the exhibition in dialogue with the Fondation space, not only the interior space and the large windows, or the exterior-garden, but mainly the interior configuration of the exhibition that resembles school rooms with desks, also and the guided mainly important for the older people who are in the need to penetrate more deeply into the thoughts, reflections and work of the artist. However, all the above elements do not strengthen, in our opinion a weak body of work that balances between painting, drawing and tracing without much success. – Efi Michalarou
