VIDEO:Weaving the Future II (Larissa) Dimitra Chanioti

Embroidery runs through the entire work of Dimitra Chanioti, but her canvas is the paper. The artist embroiders using pages from newspapers and magazines as a commentary on current affairs and what is going-on, but in a way that allows free interpretation, thus invites the viewer to discover new ways of approaching reality in order to highlight its invisible aspects. In the specific artworks although the artist maintains her constants, through her own transcendence -as the title of the artworks- creates a new dialogue, by reversing it from front to back, the familiar and the unfamiliar that contains matter and abstraction, but also the spirituality that derives from her own media, the red thread.
