Video:Weaving the Future II (Larissa)-Katerina Ribatsiou
Knitwear that adapt and unfold in space, from small and large totems to light and airy huge sculptures, into which she can penetrate and perform creates the artist Katerina Ribatsiou parallel with her paintings. Sculptures-flexible works that while their structural component is the cotton thread, sometimes she uses it like the women that wove handicrafts, dowries, embroidered blanket or curtains, and sometimes as an element to cover grids and transform them into a contemporary “totem” or landscapes that fold, fold back, extend and expands in space… the artist works with an almost meditative obsession with the exact same methodology, but she changes the form that is always connected with painting as an extension of space, time and place…
