VIDEO:Weaving the Future II (Larissa)-Vicky Betsou

Vicky BetsouVicky Betsou, a purely video artist with a very interesting and concentrated  body of work, began her course with the familiar. The “Silkworm”, one of her first artworks, seems to contain her personal path, memories and images of an era, which here are crossed and intertwined through the white cotton thread, creating a new iconoclasm, like a screen, where all experiences and desires are projected. This work does not involve only manual labor but also, the relationships of the women who are involved, intersect, coexist and say goodbye, after completion. Thus, one of the most familiar images in all the bathrooms of an era, such as the knitted curtains, grows and changes dimensions turning into a work of art.
