VIDEO:Weaving the Future II (Larissa)-Aikaterini Kanakaki
Aikaterini Kanakaki is the youngest artist of the exhibition, with the dynamism and sensitivity of her age, approaches embroidery as a tool of her era, without forgetting or marginalizing the sensitivity and fragility of the medium and its nature. Tulle, which stereotypically is associated with marriage, in her work functions as a veil-curtain, where being and appearance reside. Female bodies and arms emerge through the transparency, presenting a world that resides and is inherent between: tangible and intangible… eroticism and sexuality… imagination and reality.
