380734_1b5d05e7d2fef7bf65712a38f4b0b621The Postgraduate Programme in Curating was established in 2005, adding an international trajectory in 2008. We are constantly broadening our international network, reaching out to contemporary art curators worldwide and critiquing “Western” canons and conventional formats of exhibiting. Since 2018, programme participants have been able to attend all courses online.

The programme is embedded into the ecosystem with the OnCurating.org journal, and the travelling workshop series “Curating on the Move” and hosts a vast network of international guest lecturers. Last year, we collaborated with the Bucharest Biennale and the Taipei Biennale. The upcoming international event “Situated KnowledgesCurating on the Move” will be a conference hosted by the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art in Zurich and the Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong on June 25–27, 2021.

Head of the programme: Prof Dr Dorothee Richter, dorothee.richter@zhdk.ch
Application deadline: June 30

Postgraduate Programme in Curating
The Postgraduate Programme in Curating is conceived of as a discursive platform which involves key areas of contemporary exhibition-making by way of praxis-oriented project work. With instruction modules, group activities, seminars and lectures held by an international selection of guest lecturers, from various fields.

The CAS/MAS in Curating is an international, English-speaking, part-time postgraduate programme founded in 2005; our alumni work worldwide. The programme focuses less on the “genius concept” of the exhibition planner as individual author—a highly controversial topic since the 1990s—and more on cooperative, interdisciplinary working methods, as employed, for example, in film production or non-government organisations. Exhibition-making/curating means the creation of innovative structures for the presentation of cultural artefacts and contemporary discourse through interdisciplinary collaboration. In this field art, digital media, design, and architecture intermesh in new ways.
