Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und WestfalenKunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf is seeking a new director (artistic directorship and management), starting October 1, 2021.

The Kunstverein, founded in 1829, is looking to appoint a new director to head the institution, who is able to continue its innovative work with the help of a small and motivated team. The incoming director will be responsible for developing the artistic program with a high degree of curatorial autonomy. The focus of this position is on the conception and realization of exhibitions, publications, and events in collaboration with, and about, contemporary artists. In addition to curatorial responsibilities, the job also focuses on strengthening the position of the Kunstverein as an important institution, both regionally and internationally, that is deeply involved in developments in contemporary art. Delivering an engaging outreach program, particularly for its more than 3,000 members, as well as planning and accompanying members on organized excursions are of equal importance.

The new director will possess an excellent working knowledge of contemporary art as well as several years of experience working with artists and planning and implementing exhibition projects.

An outstanding national and international network is an indispensable requirement for the position, as is experience in fundraising. Fluent written and spoken German and English are also required.
