Are you fed up with restrictions, compromises, and other endless no’s, when setting up a gallery show?

Red Flaming project space is inviting artists to unleash their imagination, cross the threshold of two-dimensional creation, and step into spatial thinking. Set up an environment, an experience for the audience, aligned with your imagination…

Your project doesn’t need to be anyhow connected to Zalaegerszeg, or Hungary but it should consider the specific parameters of our space. We encourage you to think spatially, set up an environment, an experience for the audience, and do not just hang paintings onto the wall; at least paint the walls…

Accommodation

Besides technical assistance on your project set up, opening reception, media promotion, professional event photos;
all guest artists are provided with a private bedroom, shared bathroom facilities, towels and linens, housekeeping services, and a shared kitchen, common area, yard/terrace, bicycle, and wireless internet.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance

We are looking for courageous, short-term, site-specific, in situ … projects; or as we call them arty experiences.
video art, sound art, performance, participatory art, visual art … all welcome

Studio / Workspace

resident artists will work directly/in situ in the exhibition space during their stay, to set up the proposed exhibition; but will have access, if needed, to all other (studio/work) facilities.

Fees and support

The 2021 Red Flamingo residency/exhibition spot comes with a 350 Euro / per person participation fee and is open for two artists at a time. (meaning artists can apply individually, come with an artist friend, co-worker, assistant, spouse… or ask for a random collaborator.)
Is there a grant or scholarship opportunity?
Yes! Artists with confirmed participation will get access to participate in our fundraiser campaign to help them fund / (further) reduce the required residency fee.

Expectations towards the artist

Each residency at D’CLINIC starts with an art-dinner followed by a “meet the new artist” event, organised at one of our partner institutions; here artists are asked to share (have a presentation) their artistic practice with the peer group and others interested.
