Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture (Finland) invites applications for Professor (Artistic practices) position in Film Editing
The position is located in the Department of Film, Television and Scenography / ELO Film School Finland, and the successful candidate will be appointed for a fixed 5-year term with the title of Professor (Artistic Practices).
In general, professors (Artistic Practices) are expected to be active in artistic work and/or research, use the acquired latest knowledge as a basis for their teaching, to provide education on the traditions as well as to follow the advances in their field. The professors are expected to be active members of the Aalto University community as well as the society at large both domestically and internationally. The professors teach many of the courses themselves, but the Department also encourages inviting visiting professionals to share their knowledge on contemporary topics.
Professor (Artistic Practices) in Film Editing for Film and Television will focus primarily on the future artistic challenges in film editing. The main challenge of the position is to provide expertise in film editing practice in its many varieties. An in-depth view of the aesthetic tradition and the contemporary and future forms of audio-visual arts is essential.
The tasks of the Professor include teaching, artistic activity (and possibly also research) in the field, as well as development and administrative work in the Department. The Professor will co-operate with the faculty of the Department, other departments and other Art Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. Many of the BA and MA courses in the Department are organised together with the other majors. They will also work tightly with the professional field, build collaborations within Aalto and create and maintain national, Nordic and international collaboration networks. Furthermore, the Professor will actively develop the major, the Department, and the practiced teaching methods in close collaboration with the faculty of the Department.
