ART CITIES:Paris-En Être
In solidarity with the artistic community in these challenging times, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac hosts the exhibition ’”En Être” in collaboration with the artist association, Jeune Création, in support of young and emerging artists and galleries. The gallery’s exhibition space is dedicated to showcasing the work of around 120 artists selected to participate by Jeune Création to foster the promotion and sales of their work.

The exhibition “En Être” is presented by Jeune Création as “a recreation ritual celebrating the joys and anguish of the world, its deaths and rebirths”. One hundred artists show a large range of works spanning painting, sculpture, installation, performance, photography and video, reflecting the diversity of current practices and interrogations. Comprising a selection of individual and collective works, the show ise displayed across the high-ceiling halls of Thaddaeus Ropac Pantin gallery. A special program is taking place in the courtyard of the gallery, notably a performance ritual around the equinox of the 22th September at 7pm. The last day of the exhibition will be celebrated with a series of performances on Saturday 26/9 from 12:00-19:00.Thaddaeus Ropac comments, “This is an unprecedented time for so many, but within the art world particularly challenging for the next generation of artists and young galleries. By offering our largest gallery space and our full infrastructure to present works by 120 young artists we can support those who are most in need”. Jérémy Chabaud, Director of Jeune Création, states, “In this troubled period of health crisis, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac and Jeune Création unite with vigour and reinforced solidarity to affirm their support to artists. Everyone will be invited to create, reflect and act together in favour of creative freedom”. In addition to the main venue of Jeune Création in Pantin, other sections of the exhibition program “En être” are displayed at Cabane Georgina, 2 Chemin du Mauvais Pas, Marseille (22/9-20/10/20), at the Oscar Niemeyer Space, 2 place du Colonel Fabien (11-25/9/20) and at Galerie Jeune Création, 43 Rue de la Commune de Paris, Romainville (12-26/9/20) reflecting on the variety of around 200 artists in total. Founded in 1949, Jeune Création has been supporting young emerging artists for over 70 years. This is the third occasion that Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac has collaborated with Jeune Création
