OPEN CALL:Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) seeks Professor of Aesthetic Theory / Philosophical Aesthetics

The Professor of Aesthetic Theory / Philosophical Aesthetics, 80-100% position is available from January 1, 2021.

Duties and responsiblities
The Chair of Aesthetic Theory / Philosophical Aesthetics is attached to the Department of Cultural Analysis. The postholder will be responsible for teaching, undertaking research and promoting junior researchers in the field of transdisciplinary studies / aesthetics. Other duties and responsibilities include developing an independent research profile on aesthetic theory or philosophical aesthetics in the broadest possible sense, establishing and delivering courses in university-wide programmes on philosophical aesthetics, aesthetics, and art and design theory / philosophy of music, as well as participating in other ZHdK programmes. The position also includes managing and further developing the cooperative PhD laboratory “Epistemologies of Aesthetic Practices,” established jointly by ZHdK, ETHZ and UZH and based at the Collegium Helveticum Zurich. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with other teaching staff in the field of transdisciplinary studies / aesthetics at the Department of Cultural Analyses and to take on overarching duties and responsibilities.

Requirements
–Academic qualification (PhD, habilitation or equivalent qualification) in philosophy
–Academic teaching and research experience especially in higher arts education (arts
universities)
–Proven track record of conceptualising and steering higher education processes
–In-depth knowledge of the processes and practices of the cultural sector—private,
public and educational (outreach)—in Switzerland and internationally
–Outstanding command of the German language
