MIRAGES LXIV
While almost everyone has been convinced that a new form was created in art where everything would be done online, since of the Art Fairs of Spring and Summer 2020, took place online due to the coronavirus outbreak; both Art Paris (we are Media Partners) and LISTE Art Fair (we are Media Partners on a regular basis) persist against the hard times and with minor changes and adjustments will take place both in September 2020. Also the Austrian Gallerist Thaddeus Ropac in an interview with Alain Elkann, argues that the collectors are ready to by art. By reopening the Galleries, are sending a positive message that art has not become digital and intangible.
Gallery Weekend- Paris (2-5/7): The 7th edition of Paris Gallery Weekend is offering a more extensive selection. Reflecting the diversity of modern and contemporary art galleries in Paris, the event spotlights 60 galleries: their space, their role, their artists, and the gallerists running them. The event aims to revive cultural and artistic life in Paris: allow visitors to view, experience and appreciate works in their context, and meet and have exchanges with the people driving the art world.
Art Paris 2020 (10-13/9/20 at Grand Palais): As it happens every year since 2015, Art Paris encourages exhibiting galleries to display monographic exhibitions. And for the edition 2020, we more than 80 French and international galleries have already confirmed that they will be taking part in September. One of the advantages of Art Paris is that, in addition to its international scope, it is also a local and regional fair. It is a reassuring fact that 80% of visitors either come from the Paris region (Île de France) or other areas of France.
LISTE 2020 (17-20/9/20 at Dreispitzhalle): Over the course of many discussions with the galleries involved and Liste’s partners, the desire to physically show art again and to connect through direct exchanges has become clear. Galleries that cannot be physically present due to travel restrictions will still have the opportunity to present their artists: Liste is introducing a host/guest model wherein galleries at the fair will show works by their own artists as well as works by artists of galleries that are unable to travel to Basel.
Finally, do not forget the artists and the architects whose names are interwoven with this month, at the column “Traces”, the artists: Tracey Emin, Chuk Close, David Hockney, Richard Tuttle, Piero Manzoni, Cornelia Parker, Nam June Paik, Marisa Merz, Alex Katz, Andy Gooldworthy, Marcel Duchamp, Keith Sonnier.and the Architects: Anabelle Sellford, Philip Jonson, Dorte Mandrup, Richard Rogers, Arata Isozaki, Eduarto Sutto Moura.
