IN THE STUDIO: Liza Lou
Starting with new artworks by artists, that are on exhibition or are ready to exhibit or that are work in progress… we are visiting their studios, interacting with them and we present you this path. This very difficult period with international lockdown we started an interesting interactive dialogue for their artworks and we trying to discover their works of the previews years. On the other side there are international artists who transfer a message from their studios us Liza Lou with ARTIST’S EYE with the collaboration of Thaddeus Ropac Gallery. Liza Lou talks about the comfort blanket that ‘contains an essential aspect of her childhood’. It was sewn over a period of a year by her grandmother’s best friend Agnes, and Lou rediscovered this treasured object by chance while tidying her house during this period of confinement. She describes its nostalgic importance and wonders at the long process of stitching together different pieces of fabric to create a soothing object that Lou now recognises has inspired her work as an artist.
