Platforms Project help to promote the various artists’ groups, collectives, platforms and independent art spaces of a non-commercial (non-profit) orientation which operate in unconventional ways, managing to establish unexpected debates on art. It is an Art Fair for artist’s platforms-groups that produce works or projects together, artist-run galleries and other artists’ initiatives. This year, the 8th edition of Platforms Project which features exhibitions, performances, screenings, open talks and other events – will include 60 platforms from 19 countries. They’ll be represented by 700 artists, who will present their work in a rich and versatile program of lectures, videos and performances by participating groups. As the Artistic Director and Curator of Platforms Project, Artemis Potamianou says “ Like foremost a “nursery” of young artists  where experimentation, research and the formation of the  artistic identity are the constant pursuit, the exhibition space of Athens School of Fine Arts is the ideal choice for the Platforms Project, whose aim is to present the independent art scene as expressed through collective initiatives artists”. At this year’s event, the Parallel Program is even more expanded, including parallel exhibitions of Greek and foreign artists, talks, with participating historians, theorists and art critics, academics, museum directors, artists, curators. AICA Hellas organises a meeting related to “The Role of Public and Private Bodies in Art Today”, while Painting workshops 1st, 2nd, 6th, 11th, 12th and Sculpture workshops 1st and 2nd of ASFA will present student works. In addition, the educational program Platforms Project for All 2019 is designed for children between 7 and 16 years old from the Dutch platform EX-MÊKH, and the artist and art teacher Ellen Rodenberg, aiming to introduce children to contemporary art. During the Platforms Project the children will be invited to create a mini space (mini stand-cube) with paper, pencils, colors, staples or glue. Also this year there is a space for performance art, where artists from Greece and abroad will present their works in different areas of Athens School of Fine Arts..
