Mary Christofides’ Photography career began in 1997 and since then she has been an active member of the Photo Circle. Her work encompasses of five personal exhibitions as well as features in several group exhibitions and publications. Her first works have been published in the Album “Moments” from “Little Series“ in Photo Circle publications and has featured across a wide range of books and magazines.

Mary Christofides presents her solo exhibition “Resistances and Exclusions” at Citronne Gallery in Poros Island. Mary Christofides is a photographer with acute visual perception and penetrating gaze. She creates a personal photographic “document”, images with a strong aesthetic substance. She is moving without fear from black & white to color photography, with the perception of the specific aesthetics inspired or imposed by everyday life. As the curator of the exhibition, Platon Rivellis, says “Mary Christofides does not illustrate messages or tell stories. She simply draws attention to small coincidences in the context of her everyday life, resulting from the encounter between insignificant events chosen by her senses and the importance attributed to them by her memory through her photographic frame. Thus, she uses small selected fragments to build her personal timeline. Her success is due, inter alia, to the priority and preservation of the photographic process. Thus, the photographic result preserves its polysemy and its power to abstract, and the photographic process the mystery that provokes it”. Mary Christofides’ work freeze the world in photo frames and the photographer creates and develops a continuous dialogue between the past and the present. Mary Christofides was born and raised in Cyprus and has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the School of Law, Economics & Political Sciences University of Athens and a Master’s Degree in Management.
