ART-PRESENTATION: Platforms Project 2019
The Platforms Project returns for its 7th edition and brings together independent art platforms from around the world in an attempt to map artworks and current practices, as well as theoretical questions posed internationally. The platforms are artists groups, which create a project together, action or thematic exhibition, also independent artist run spaces, aiming to showcase art, as well as artists’ actions, suggesting a real or digital space in order to highlight culture from all over the world.

The Platforms Project 2019, is held in Athens at the Nikos Kessanlis Exhibition Hall of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) and brings together 60 art platforms (800 artists) from 17 countries in an attempt to map artworks and current practices, as well as theoretical questions posed internationally. This year’s event continues last year’s tradition, with 56 platforms, also from 17 countries, presenting their work, in front of 16,000 audience. At this year’s event, the parallel program is even more expanded in different areas of ASFA, including 38 performances, parallel exhibitions of Greek and foreign artists, talks with the participation of historians, theorists and art critics, academics, museum directors, artists, curators. In the Open Studios , the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 11th and 12th Painting Art labs and 1st and 2nd Sculpture Art labs of Athens School of Fine Arts present students’ artworks The 6th Painting Studio ASFA at the Theater foyer presents the Delfi continued workshop. The 11th Painting studio ASFA presents (I)MAGESOUND(S), a program of Artist Film, Sound and Expanded Cinema in partnership with The University of Greenwich. The exhibition “The Text of Appearances”, at the Old Library, is responding to the workshop that takes place in Athens School of Fine Arts during April and May 2019 in 11th Painting studio of ASFA. AICA Hellas organises a meeting related to “The Role of Public and Private Bodies in Art Today”, while In addition, the educational program “Platforms Project for All 2019” is designed for children between 7 and 16 years old from the Dutch platform EX-MÊKH, and the artist and art teacher Ellen Rodenberg, aiming to introduce children to contemporary art. During the Platforms Project the children will be invited to create a mini space (mini stand-cube) with paper, pencils, colors, staples or glue.
