ART FAIRS:LISTE Art Fair 2019 Selected Galleries

00LISTE is one of the most interesting Art Fairs, as a not-for-profit-oriented fair, LISTE – unlike any other fair – has consistently advocated for the promotion of young galleries with primarily emerging, as yet little known artists, since its founding in 1996. For 2019 LISTE has been renewed, as we all know after 23 years its founder and longtime director Peter Bläuer retired and Joanna Kamm took over.

LISTE Art Fair, Burgweg 15, BaselBorn in Munich in 1968, Joanna Kamm studied philosophy and cultural sciences in Munich and berlin from 1988-1994. From 1998-2001 she managed the project space for contemporary art S.S.K. in Berlin and in 2001 she founded Galerie Kamm, which she ran until 2014. From 200-2003 she presented her gallery program at LISTE and from 2005-2013 her gallery was represented at Art Basel. During her time as gallerist she was part of the committee of Art Basel Miami, co-partner of abc-art berlin and of Gallery Weekend Berlin. During the past couple of years, she has worked on a variety of cultural projects, and from 19/4/2017 to 4/7201818 she was cocurator of “Stop Making Sense, It’s as Good as It Gets” (a series of events on the intersection of art, architecture, literature, and theory) at BNKR in Munich. So this year, next to the banks of the Rhine at the former Warteck Brewery with approximately 40 rooms distributed over five floors in Basel, the changes are big but the expectations of all are even bigger, since for LISTE’s 2019 edition the list of the participating galleries is renewed with 21 galleries exhibiting for the first time, 11 galleries with exceptionally engaging stand presentations are once again generously supported by Friends of LISTE with a stand price reduction. New this year is the promotional initiative “Impact”, awarded to galleries that have not yet presented their programme outside their country. In total 77 galleries from 34 countries are participating.

The most important in LISTE ART FAIR, not only for the visitor, but also for the participating galleries and for us is its different atmosphere since no one feels that is in the space of a typical ART FAIR, but in a space with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, where the colorful crowd that is pleasantly blended giving you the impression of participating in a true celebration. And it’s a celebration because the new galleries have the opportunity to participate paying a small fee, but from the very first moment they have secured a series of very important benefits, as Peter Bläuer said in his interview to our magazine in 17/1/2017 “We aren’t just another fair with galleries that haven’t made it to Art Basel; rather, we are a fair with a focus on presenting the world’s most interesting new emerging galleries. And on a quality level comparable to Art Basel. The history of the last 22 years has clearly shown: There is scarcely a gallery founded after 1996 and numbering among today’s most important galleries worldwide whose journey has not included an appearance at LISTE”. LISTE’s primary and basic goal was to actively introduce and promote  new highly promising galleries from all over the world to an international audience each year. This goal not only remains, but through this year’s program of LISTE is even stronger.
