ART FAIRS:Fiac 2018, Part II

A major event for artistic creation, FIAC 2018 continues its development and confirms its status as a leading international Art Fair. Remaining attentive to the evolutions and concerns of contemporary creation, questioning the transformations of the careers of gallery owners and exhibition organizers as well as artistic practices themselves (Part I).

For its 45th edition FIAC hosts an exacting selection of modern art, contemporary art, and design galleries, among the most emblematic of the international scene. This year, the list of galleries brings together 195 exhibitors from 25 countries, including 2 new countries (Greece and Peru). For the new edition of this international event, the General Sector of FIAC brings together a selection of modern and contemporary galleries. The contingent of French galleries includes: Natalie Seroussi, Air de Paris, Chantal Crousel, gb agency, Karsten Greve, Lelong & Co., kamel mennour, Nathalie Obadia, Perrotin, Almine Rech, Thaddaeus Ropac, Templon, Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois, Jocelyn Wolff, etc., on the European level, among the other participants are: Capitain Petzel, Sadie Coles HQ, Continua, Konrad Fisher, Bärbel Grässlin, Max Hetzler, Simon Lee, Lisson, Victoria Miro, Neu, =Eva Presenhuber, and White Cube. The 10 galleries selected for the Lafayette Sector were chosen out of over 150 applications, for the quality of their programming and based on a specific project, presenting one or two emerging artists.  In preparation for the 100th anniversary of The Laughing Cow® in 2021, Lab’Bel, the Artistic Laboratory of the Bel Group, launched a series of collaborations in 2014 enlisting important contemporary artists to design a sequence of Collector’s Edition Boxes. Following the creations of Hans-Peter Feldmann in 2014, Thomas Bayrle in 2015, Jonathan Monk in 2016 and Wim Delvoye in 2017, German conceptual artist Karin Sander has been chosen to produce the 5th Collector’s Edition Box in 2018 is unveiled today at Lab’Bel’s booth. FIAC Projects (formerly On Site) present around forty sculptures and installations in situ, within the prestigious setting of the Petit Palais, around the Grand Palais, and on Avenue Winston Churchill. FIAC Hors les Murs reaffirms its powerful cultural vocation through the outdoor works programme, which enables the public to discover artworks exhibited throughout the city, presented at some of the most prestigious and emblematic locations in Paris. For its third edition, the performance festival Parades for FIAC, dedicated to performative practices and dialogue between disciplines in contemporary art, takes place in various emblematic institutions of the capital including the Palais de la Découverte, the Petit Palais, the Centre Pompidou, and the Grand Palais and its grounds. This programme lies at the crossroads of music, contemporary dance, performance, theatre, and poetry, offering a broad range of artistic experimentation in the form of live actions, opening up new perimeters in the field of artistic performance.
