ART ISLANDS:Paros-Stella Meletopoulou
In her solo exhibition “Paper Scissors on the Rocks” at TWOS in Paros Island, Stella Meletopoulou creates a new series of works that reference to the world of Matisse and Chagall. The artist narrates a personal tale, trough: symbols, colors dominated by blue, children’s and collage that contribute to a storytelling reminiscent of innocence and dreams of childhood and perhaps in the summers that the artist fondly remembers or refutes through her works. Using paper and pencil, scissors and drinking straws, matches and threads, the artist creates a dreamlike world through intimate and familiar images of: plains and mountains, seas and beaches, Stella Meletopouloy invites the viewer to dive deep into the waters of her works and travel with her in their childhood by choosing his memories and reminiscences, stirring up dreams and desires, and why not to exorcise his fears and nightmares with Summer’s bright light, releasing them into the sea that transforms everything into joy and happiness!-Efi Michalarou
