OPEN CALL: UNFINISHED Festival 2018 Registration Open

UNFINISHED Festival 2018 Registration OpenEIDOS Foundation is pleased to announce it has opened registration for UNFINISHED, taking place September 27–30, 2018 at the National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest.

Part festival, part talks, part exhibition, part undefined, UNFINISHED is an experience in constant evolution. It brings together innovators, artists, visionaries, entrepreneurs and change-makers across all disciplines to share work, research and ideas. The name UNFINISHED reflects its core belief: that making the world a more conscious place is a continuous work in progress and that we should never stop growing and questioning ourselves.

Everyone at UNFINISHED—speaker, listener, performer, philosopher, inventor, exhibitor, thinker or maker—is considered both guest and contributor. Here is how you can join us.

UNFINISHED builds its community through different event formats such as keynotes, workshops, panels, leadership sessions, art installations, concerts and concept dinners, all in a creatively unique space. Last year #UNFINISHED17 hosted 40+ distinguished speakers, including Pixar co-founder Alvy Ray Smith, OFF-White founder and Louis Vuitton menswear artistic director Virgil Abloh, New York Times Modern Love columnist Daniel Jones, Spokehub innovation director Onika Simon, Fabrica creative director Enrico Bossan and +Pool architect and Family co-founder Oana Stănescu. Its exhibition brought together artworks from around the globe, consciously connecting projects, pieces, and installations from world-renowned artists with emerging yet daring voices.

This year, UNFINISHED18 will take place at the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR), located in the former Royal Palace in Bucharest’s Revolution Square. MNAR re-opened in 2013 after 27 years of renovation work and UNFINISHED, picking up the thread of history from this influential host, is the very first festival to ever receive the privilege of holding a four-day event in both its modern galleries and momentous reception halls.

The final list of UNFINISHED18 speakers, performers and artists will be announced at the beginning of September. EIDOS Foundation is nonetheless pleased to announce early program confirmations, including a performance by poet Aja Monet, the moderation of panels by New York Times arts correspondent Farah Nayeri, talks by PlayLab / +Pool partners Archie Lee Coates and Jeffrey Franklin, HAWRAF co-founder Andrew Herzog, MESA founder Barbara Soalheiro, and a conversation between attorney Kimberly Motley and Cuban dissident artist Danilo Maldonado Machado. To date, confirmed artists participating to the Unknowing Knowns | Knowing Unknowns exhibition include Tehching Hsieh, Alfredo Jaar, Kitra Cahana, Rachel Monosov + Admire Kamudzengerere, Luca Zamoc, Josh Begley, Oana Vainer, Cosmin Haias and Pavel Brăila. UNFINISHED is also delighted to host a site-specific installation by the collective Numen. Please check the UNFINISHED website for continuous updates.

UNFINISHED is organized by EIDOS Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Bucharest, Romania, committed to supporting new cultural forms and practices on an international level and across disciplines. EIDOS operates at the intersection of creativity, technology, philosophy, and business by organizing events, educational programs, experimental research and by supporting the production of artistic projects. Our mission is to build bridges between thinkers and visionaries from across Romania and the world at large providing them with an ever-evolving variety of platforms for exchange. Our goal is to connect and inspire in order to deepen mutual understanding across our ever-expanding community and to enable ourselves to grow with a common global consciousness: as a single species, through a common essence and with, in Aristotle’s terms, our collective eidos.
