The Art Basel Hong Kong 2018 opens on 29/3/18, with the participation of 248 Galleries from 32 countries and territories. all over the world, that allow visitors to explore the many dimensions of Modern and Contemporary Art including Museum-caliber paintings, sculptures and classical photography, as well as works of an outsized scale and curated projects.

The 6th edition of Art Basel in Hong Kong features a line-up of prominent returning galleries, who this year will be joined by 28 first-time exhibitors, including 14 with exhibition spaces in Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, 14 Galleries from the Americas and Europe are making their debut at the fair this year. Galleries, the main sector of the show, present the highest quality of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, photography, video and editioned works by 195 leading international galleries. Insights features presentations by one or two artists with exceptional historical materials and strong thematic exhibitions by 28 galleries. This sector illustrates Asian art history by presenting works of important artists from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. Discoveries gives a powerful platform to emerging contemporary artists, showcasing work by the next generation of talent at an early stage in their career. 25 Galleries exhibit exciting new work created specifically for the Art Fair by an artist from their gallery program. Dedicated to 30 curated exhibitions within the galleries’ booths, the 2018 edition of Kabinett in Hong Kong sees a strong selection of presentations by artists from Asia. From important Modern works to entirely new pieces making their debut at the show, this year’s edition aims to open up new perspectives through thoughtful presentations of outstanding artworks. Bringing together 12 artists from 11 countries and territories Encounters present institutional-scale installations and site-specific projects, with 9 new works created specifically for this year’s show. The 2018 edition, which again is installed along the four boulevards that run through the two exhibition floors of the show. Celebrating the 5th edition of the Film sector in Hong Kong, Art Basel presents a program of 59 film and video works. Multi-media artist and film producer Li Zhenhua, who has been curating the sector since its inception, has brought together a selection of film and video works inspired by the current socio-political climate, presented by galleries participating in the fair. Magazines, Art publications from around the world display their magazines in single-magazine stands or the collective booth. Editors and publishers often attend the show and many magazines contribute presentations to Conversations, our series of lectures and discussions by prominent members of the artworld. Conversations, Art Basel’s talks series that runs alongside the fair, brings together a strong line-up of leading art world figures to participate in a wide range of panels and discussions in Hong Kong. Free to the public, this year’s program consists of 26 talks, addressing highly relevant art industry topics such as the future of public and private collecting, alternative business models for Galleries, current developments within the art market in Asia, as well as gender politics in the arts.
