ART REVIEW:Unfamiliar Intimacies
The other side of reality presented in his latest work at the Gallery Agathi – Kartalos, the Professor and Vice Rector at the Athens School of Fine Arts, Angelos Antonopoulos, in the most concise and compact, work of his course. Turning inside out, the familiar and the unfamiliar, the moral and non-moral, the political and the social, the small and the great, the classic and the modern, but firmly holding the constant arising from our historical continuity, he creates a world in black and white, that seems to: disband, melt, mutate and to be shifted. His images while initially seem like a fairy tale at first reading, in the second and the third level is smoldering another dimension of reality that flirts with an acrimonious humor. All the artworkσ, balance in the level of severity and sarcasm, with the help of the form, since the sharp corners alternate with curves, and hard metal elements succeeded by the soft, like darkness, like light.-Efi Michalarou
