BOOK:The history of Berner/Eliades Gallery
Bernier/Eliades Gallery founded in 1977 and housed in the first residence of Alexanderos Iolas in Marasli Str., Kolonaki Athens. The first exhibition organized by the Gallery was a solo exhibition of Jannis Kounellis and continued exhibiting innovative artists, little known in Greece or artists with unreadable work, such as: Lucas Samaras, Brice Marden, Richard Long, Nikos Baikas and Richard Serra. On the occasion of its relocation in 1999 to the Neoclassical building at Eptachalkou Str. in Thisio, making a review of the course, issues in collaboration with Agra Publications the volume “Jean Bernier Gallery 1977-1998” with historical documents from the exhibitions and the artists exhibited at the Gallery, all this time. The second volume “Bernier/Eliades 1999-2009” coincides with the new developments in the landscape and the art market inGreece as well as internationally, which are shown in the gallery selections.
