ARCHITECTURE:Zaha Hadid

Adopted deconstruction, as a way of life and work, Zaha Hadid designed series of everyday objects. She used curves in furniture, spaces fixtures and tapestries in a way that they created harmonic sequence, that from the comfort and freedom, generated a dreamy and poetic mood in space while in her jewelry, bags and shoes, the absolute femininity is inherent with the dynamism, evidence emanating from her own personality. She has exhibited objects in parallel with the Venice Biennale in 2007.

The exhibition “Zaha Hadid” at Leila Heller Gallery in New York features the oeuvre of the late internationally renowned architect Dame Zaha Hadid. The exhibition follows the architect’s design career, starting with her 1982–83 site plans for the Peak Leisure Club in Hong Kong. Viewers can get an idea of just how multifaceted Hadid’s talents are from the more than 70 objects on display, from the futuristic curves of the 2003 Iceberg lounge to the model of the slick black speedboat she designed for ZHDL in 2014 to the polished resin chess set she created for ZHDL that same year. The architect’s transposition of the vertical and horizontal can be seen in the angular “Seoul desk” (2008), composed in high gloss fiberglass. Hadid’s ethic of deep environmental and physical inter-connectedness is exemplified in the “Visio vases” (2014), whose intricate pleats seek to portray the complexity of liquid form. As the body of architecture transposes itself onto the architecture of the body in Hadid’s continuous exploration of scale and spatial relations, the intimate constructions of her jewellery collections present multi-faceted lattice pieces, portraying intricate yet extremely strong cellular structures within nature.
