ARCHITECTURE:Istanbul–Postcards from the Future,Venice Biennale

 This was the title of the workshop- presented in Arsenalle on 31/10/14 as a part of the Venice Architecture Biennale, by Professor Paolo Belloni of the Polytechnic of Milan, in collaboration with Stefano Rolla and an international group of students. In a sort of methodological oxymoron, the work proposes to go on with a retrospective look to the future of the next 50 years. Some of the dynamics in the processes of transformation of the city are assumed as the basis for a radical reinterpretation of spaces at different scales.

“Istanbul-Postcards from the Future” is a collective work of a group of students coming from different countries and studying in the Politecnico di Milano. The research proposes a plurality of topics and “visions” in the limit between utopia and distopia, realism and surrealism. Smart City, Public Space, Urban Voids, Mobility, Reusing Ruins, Tourism, Housing, Watersquare, Terraces, Urban Density,Topography, Waterscapes, Hearthquake, Spontaneous spaces, Materials, In-Fill, Mixitè, Food, Human Beeings, Cruises….. Are some of the topics faced in this work. The work uses the power of “cultural surfing” to propose and immediate lecture of the reality to go deeper in some potentialities of the city.
