Efi Michalarou

ΜΙΧΑΛΑΡΟΥEfi Michalarou (born 1971): Journalist-Art Critic-Independent Curator- Writer. She is Member of the Association of European Journalists, Art Critic & Independent Curator- Member and Treasurer of International Association of Art Critics-Greek Section (AICA-Hellas). She joined Daily Newspapers, Monthly Magazines, Art Magazines and Online Media since July 1988. She is specialized on contemporary art, art-photography and architecture. From 1996, she has curated and organized individual artists and group exhibitions. She has written texts for artists who have been issued on the occasion of their individual exhibitions. She worked from 1996-2008, very close with the most important collector in Greece and International, Mr. Dakis Joannou, who is the President of Deste Foundation.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2020- : Efi Michalarou and Dimitris Lempesis have organized and ran the dreamideamachine resident athens. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions were lifted and they have held 6 exhibitions as a residency: One in Athens, “nature, nature, nature Vol. 1,” in May 2023 at the resident’s exhibition space in Metaxourgeio. One in Chania, “Nature, Nature, Nature Vol. 2,” at the Match More Gallery in July 2023. One in Mytilene with the School of Fine Arts Florina and the University of the Aegean in July 2023. Also the last one in December 2023 at Desmos Gallery, Paris ‘’nature, nature, nature Vol. 3’’. A 3-day Pop-Up event at Papagalos, Hydra, in August 2023. And an individual exhibition by Panagiotis Rappas at the Municipal Market of the Municipality of Hydra in August 2022, with the support of the Municipality of Hydra.
2014- : From March, Organized and is Senior Director & Editor in Chief of the Greek-English, on-line, art magazine for visual arts, dreamideamachine ART VIEW.
2014-12: Prepared, coordinated and organized and directed as Senior Director & Editor in Chief in the on- line Greek art magazine esartpresso.
2012: Editor in Chief in the on-line newspaper www.ctvmag.gr.
