ART-PRESENTATION: Urs Fischer’s Universe at Gagosian Gallery
The Swiss artist Urs Fischer, after the series of melting sculptures, noting the relationship between ephemeral and timeless, his sculpture is registered in the field of art as an established art form, he naturalizes classic and timeless. Since 2014 the artist creates a series of sculptures both indoors and outdoors.

In his exhibition “Yes” in Deste Foundation at the old Slaughterhouses in Hydra Island 2 years ago, where a mythical and fabulous world intersected again in the thin line, on the boundary between the ephemeral and the classic, and his works was telling stories through time and everyday life, with the time to sculpt them and the wear to penetrating them. His latest work “Misunderstandings in the Quest for the Universal” that is on presentation at Gagosian Gallery in New York, takes the form of a wallpaper that covers the entire Gallery space changing the current knowledge between ephemeral and temporal, since in the wallpaper are printed stories that inhabit and traverse a personal universe that at the same time is universal. Narrating stories and memories of childhood with the peculiar humor of the artist, sometimes in a black & white and sometimes with a rich color palette, where the heroes jump from comics and coexist or hunted by evil witches and fairies, filling our dreams or our nightmares, reflecting the stress and the tension of a lost innocence perhaps forever, giving us the hope that the game, the joy and the dream will win and will exorcise everything. This series of Urs Fischer’s works entitled “Misunderstandings in the Quest for the Universal” apart from children’s fairy tale, refers in the contemporary news like another form of wall newspaper, the good and the bad news are blending like the joy and the sorrow, the dream and the nightmare just like in real life.
